Federal and State Government Tax Credits for Installation of Renewable Solar Energy Systems
U.S. residents and commercial entities who install solar energy systems such as photovoltaics (solar panels), solar water heating and solar electric systems, can receive a 30% tax credit for systems placed in service before December 31, 2016.
The specific details for applying for federal tax credits are:
- Tax Credit: 30% of the cost with no upper limit.
- Expires: December 31, 2016.
- Details: existing homes and new construction qualify for tax credits. Both primary and second homes qualify, but rentals do not qualify for federal tax credits.
